Uberman's Sleep Schedule (aka Polyphasic sleep)

After reading about polyphasic sleep, I decided to give it a try.

My sleep schedule is probably more irregular then a quantum filament, and this causes me problems both social and professional.

I have on many occasions tried to get up as normal people do, around 8-9am, and sometimes I went to school or just out for a walk. It felt great. Getting up early is a truly great feeling, however in the end I always return to irregularity.

First, in order to get to a normal sleep schedule, I usually need to spend a few days without sleep. After a few all nighters for a school or work project, I make a decision and a few days later I am waking up early.
All is well, except that a week into all this, I accidentally start watching a movie too late, or some friends come over, or I am working on some project that I just cant stop working on, and here I am, going to bed a 2 or 4 am. 2 OR 4 AM is my normal sleeping time. It rarely happens that I go to bed at 1 or 3, its either 2, or 4.

Even when I have to get up at 7 the next day for some school thing, I usually fail to go to bed early, unless I have an exam maybe... I really don't like spending so long time sleeping, but unfortunately, I have been unable to reduce the time I spend sleeping to even 6 hours.

I accidentally stumbled upon it in the comments on Joi's page this morning (funny, because it was 3PM and I had just woken up...).

At this time I have some exams coming up in the next two weeks, so I am not gonna start now. However after this term's exams are over, I am going to spend my christmas time to try the experiment and carefully document the whole thing.

This will be interesting. In the mean time I will do more research on the subject, so I can be well prepared.

Very interesting. I have read something about this before, probably at http://circadiana.blogspot.com/ - a great blog about sleeping.

Since I am a computer geek as well, I also fall asleep too late. Not too late for me, but too late for everyone else who without any effort accept the social norm of getting up early.

yeah its truly a pain to get up late, since the world is geared towards daytime...

I am kinda hoping this Polyphasic sleep works. I am obviously sceptical, however I want to believe. ;)

I will do my best to document the experience here, however as I said, it wont be until sometime later this month....
