Well, now I shall continue my story.
My current position is Kyoto, but since I am a big slow, we shall go back in time so I can explain what happened in the days leading up to this experience.
Truth be told, after the crazy party, very little happened. I was led around by O. Sayaka, we went to some food places, funky amusement parks and shopping malls. However while those things are great, I would have trouble describing them in detail without the use of pictures. Have no fear, more pics are coming, just not quite yet.
So on my last day in Tokyo, I went to Akihabara to try and find an electronic dictionary. Which I did. I also accidentally spotted a PSP and ended up buying that too. And a superpowerful flashlight. The PSP was the only unplanned purchase. It was quite cheap tho, 33000 with 2 games. A fun toy, but I wonder how long I will own it.
Looks cool tho.
Next time I am in Tokyo I shall do my best to stear clear of Akihabara. Although next time I am in Tokyo (end of next week) I am promised great parties and Hanami, so maybe not going to Akihabara wont help much.
So I got myself a Shinkansen ticket to Kyoto and 2 hours 43 minutes later (to the second) I was there. The Shinkansen was nice, clean and peaceful, and you could really relax in those seats. Its not as high-tech as one would expect, but then again this was not the newest one either.
Well in Kyoto I called my hotel and they said take bus #5 and get off at Kyoto Kaikan, using my new electronic dictionary I ascertained that bus #5 did not go to Kyoto Kaikan, so I asked the bus driver and he told me to take the white #5 bus. Which made things a little easier.
So a short while, a really packed bus and a few direction inquiries later I was in the hotel.
This place was more expensive then the place in Tokyo, but they were a real hotel. With your own toilet, toothbrushes etc in the bathroom and a really nice public bath. Which I have now used several times and love dearly.
Google up Japanese bathing if you don’t know what I am talking about.
I have a great story to tell about Kyoto, so to make the most of it, I shall conclude this post on that note, and see if I can upload some pictures before I feel that I have used the hotel computer enough.
Here are some fun facts:
- today was the first time I ate a rice dish in Japan (save for 3 onigiri and a miniscule amount in a korean dish).
- Kyoto is way too touristy and is not my kind of place. At least not the parts I’ve seen.
- Kyoto is expensive. At least in tokyo I could find cheap places, here, everything is for tourists, so everything is either hidden or expensive.
- Japanese keyboards have a REALLY small space key, which makes typing on them a pain in the fucking ASS. Thus I am unable to write my entries at the speed that I normally would. Basically I’ve switched my space finger from my right hand to my left hand. You try it, and then see what happens.
Well, tata!
Electronic diary or dictionary? Btw, SPRING HAS COME TO STOCKHOLM! It will welcome you with warmth upon your return. I’m heading to Oslo for a few days, so I might not post any comments for a few days. Don’t disdain, though - I’ll be back! Glad påsk!
Its a dictionary. Has been most useful in communication!
I look forward to spring in stockholm. I just came back from snowy cold mountains ehehe.
