Deplorable Circumstances

I was recently enlightened with an interesting link to here from here. The image you see gives a somewhat sarcastic but also very true account of our collective fascination with Anime and thus Japan. While the original target seems to be foreigners who choose to live in Japan (according to this), I found that the hierarchy could be applied to pretty much any otaku.

The author has a wonderful page and his self presentation inspired me to write my own, post haste. That I did, but I also wanted to post this excellent quote from his website which summarizes my current feelings to 123%!

midaregami.net Having found himself in such deplorable circumstances, Mr. Starr realized that he must do what all desperate immortals do when the going gets tough: Move to Japan. This is precisely what he did, and it is now suspected that he leads a clan of ninja in the mountains of northern Kansai, where, disguised as English teachers, they are gathering a base of power in preparation for a strike at that bastion of evil, the hated Yomiuri Giants.

This is exactly what I feel and what I also described in my own autobiography of the day. The fact is, moving to a different country, or Japan, seems to be some sort of cure for a chronic desease. The truth also seems to be that while the cure is quite effective for many people, it is less effective for others. The general impression for an open-minded and willing individual, does seem a positive one however.

So, are circumstances deplorable enough for me to do like every other desperate immortal? Perhaps. Time will tell. Until then, I procrastinate.
